It was originally characterized by winding roads and a rugged, woodsy terrain. Since then, the population has grown and the area was developed. Cleveland Circle was primarily developed from 1870 to 1950. Construction began to take hold in the 1880’s, when the electric streetcar railway was introduced on Beacon Street in Brookline. With the building of the Chestnut Hill reservoir nearby, the Cleveland Circle area became an attractive place to live for Brighton and Boston residents alike.
